"Is that really what my hair looks like from the back?"

I'm speechless.

I guess I've been out of the loop the past month, because I wasn't aware of Emma Watson's pixie cut until about five minutes ago.  Let me first tell you a little about how I feel about the "pixie" haircut.  I've never really been a fan, with the exception of Twiggy and maybe Mia Farrow.  The 'do saw its day back in the 60s, but really, I'd choose Emma's long golden locks over the masculine cut any day.  There's something about long hair that instantly makes a statement--whether it be 'bombshell' or just 'pretty'.  I'm not saying she doesn't still look stunning, because it definitely suits her face, I just wouldn't prefer it over her shoulder-length hair that we've known since her early Hermione days...

lollapotential outfits

If you live in Chicago and are remotely young, you've probably got Lollapalooza on your calendar for august.  For those of you that don't know, "lolla" as most call it is one of the largest music festivals in the US, with headliners this summer like Lady Gaga.  I'll be going all three days, which means I'll be needing three different outfits.

You don't need to search far to understand the effort festival-goers put into their looks.  Style.com has their annual overview of the best get-ups of Lollapalooza each year (see it here).  I even had my picture snapped last year by another fashion site.

As for my outfits, I've been doing some planning.  I recently purchased a galaxy print top from Your Eyes Lie, after finding it on Lookbook.nu.

And just a few weeks ago, I picked up some black motorcycle boots from Fred Segal that may make an appearance in one of my lolla ensembles.  Some other essentials include vintage Levi cutoffs, Ray Bans, crop tops, across-the-body satchels and tribal accessories.  Needless to say, I've got some preparation to do.

Pencey summer 2010 + a birthday shoutout

If you asked me what my favorite contemporary clothing line is, I'd easily give you the answer.  And the answer isn't biased because I interned for them this past March, or because it's owned by a family friend, because I can say that I honestly loved the line even before I knew who the owner was.

Pencey, created by Christina Minasian, was named after one of the boarding schools that Holden Caulfield was kicked out of in the novel The Catcher in the Rye (for the record, it's my all time favorite book).  Anyway, the line features both edgy and more feminine pieces, as well as mixes of the two.  I've already purchased a few of the items from their latest collection, and I thought I'd share the some of the summer 2010 collection in this post.

See the entire collection here.

Also, I want to give a shout-out to my loyal 11th follower, A. Clarkson, whose birthday is today (two days before mine, June 1st!).  And even though he might be the only one reading this post right now, I promised.  I expect a comment back, by the way...
